    Democrats took back a majority

It wasn’t. It was exactly like most midterm elections. The party that controlled the executive branch for the previous six years lost seats in the House. It happens almost everytime.

  4. Tim Says:

Democrats came back to power on the promise of impeaching and then removing Bush. That has not happened and many in the democratic base plan on taking it out on them in 2008.

Also, Pelosi beame the first woman Speaker.

That’s kind of a broad question. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that voter turnout was at a record high.

Did you have a more specific question maybe?

Democrats did not win enough seats to impeach Bush! LOL

  7. Randy F Says:

Democrats somehow managed to get a majority of seats over Republicans. It will be a day of sorry forever…………….We cannot let this happen again.

  8. King Con McSame Says:

not enough people were voted in to stop the bush regime rubber stamping

Public opinion had turned against the war in Iraq thus the Democrats replaced the Republican majority in both the senate and house of representatives. Everyone wanted change and we got it; in the way of a terrible economy. and higher oil prices. And now a recession.

Nancy Pilosi finally got her cheerleader letter, and Obama got his driver’s license.

The Democrats took back a majority mainly by attacking Republicans on the unpopularity of the war and Bush’s poor approval ratings. There were also several ethics scandals involving republicans that year that led to several of them resigning their seats and a general loss of confidence that bolstered Democrat momentum. Tom DeLay resigned after being charged with campaign finance violations. He was never convicted. Mark Foley sexually harassed an underage male congressional page. The Abramoff indictment cast suspicion on everybody in Washington, especially those in power. Scooter Libby was Indicted. It was just a bad year to be a republican. Most of the scandals disappeared after the elections and turned out to be nothing. A few indictments stuck, and really, just as many democrats were dirty as republicans. But the image of a corrupt regime helped put the democrats in control. Then all their promises to impeach Bush and end the War faded into nothing as they took over the political machinery and became as corrupt as the ones they replaced.
